Deer Park Suffolk

Deer Park is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Babylon, Suffolk County, New York, on Long Island. This residential hamlet is located in the pine barrens in the northeast corner of Babylon. The total area of this CDP is 6.2 square miles.

Deer Park is bordered to the west by the Babylon hamlets of Wyandanch and Wheatley Heights, to the north by Dix Hills in the town of Huntington, to the east by Brentwood and Baywood in the town of Islip, and to the south by the hamlet of North Babylon.

Deer Park Avenue is the main artery passing through the commercial strip of the community bisecting it east-west. Acorn Street from Wyandanch intersection turns into Long Island Avenue towards the east after passing Deer Park Avenue. Running parallel are the roads of Nicolls Road to the north and Grand Boulevard to the south. Commack Road starts from south and heads towards Edgewood Oak Brush Plains Preserve which occupies the northeast area. Old County Road partially enters the hamlet from the north and continues to go southwest then exits on Straight Path.

Deer Park is home to Edgewood Oak Brush Plains Preserve. Along the vicinity is the Edgewood trailhead on Long Island Avenue. Nearby the park is the Tanger Ice Rink – Deer Park on The Arches Circle. Other parks within the hamlet are Birchwood Park, Pine Acres Park and Geiger Park located on the western border.

Educational buildings within the hamlet include James E Allen Elementary School, John Quincy Adams Elementary School, Robert Frost Middle School, Lincoln School and Deer Park Public Library. Places of worship from different sects in Deer Park are Islamic Center of Deer Park, Ss. Cyril and Methodius Roman Catholic Church, Community Presbyterian Church and Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic School.
