Bay Shore Suffolk

Bay Shore is a hamlet and census-designated place in the Town of Islip, Suffolk County, New York, United States. It is situated on the South Shore of Long Island, adjoining the Great South Bay. It is one of the older hamlets on Long Island. Sagtikos Manor, located on West Bay Shore.

The Bay Shore CDP is located on the South Shore of central Long Island, approximately 42 miles (68 km) from Manhattan and 79 miles (127 km) from Montauk. The hamlet has a total area of 5.5 square miles (14.3 km2). The land is about 5.4 square miles (13.9 km2) and the water is 0.15 square miles (0.4 km2).

Southern State Parkway is the northern boundary of Bay Shore CDP. The northern part of the CDP (just south of the parkway) includes the hamlet of North Bay Shore. To the north of the parkway is the CDP of North Bay Shore, which includes Pine Aire and part of Brentwood. The Village of Brightwaters is west of Bay Shore, and east of West Bay Shore and south of a portion of the Bay Shore CDP; The Great South Bay is to the south. The hamlet separates Bay Shore proper from West Bay Shore.

Bay Shore is accessible by major roads on Long Island such as NY 27 (Sunrise Highway), NY 27A, Southern State Parkway, CR-50, CR-13, CR-57. The main commercial area is accessed by Sunrise Highway.

On the Long Island Rail Road, Bay Shore is part of the Montauk Branch. In addition to traveling westward, LIRR trains travel eastward toward Montauk and New York City. Visitors traveling to and from Fire Island frequently stop at the Bay Shore stop. Bay Shore has many bus stops on various lines operated by Suffolk County Transit.

Bay Shore is approximately 12 miles (19 km) from Islip MacArthur Airport.
