Brookhaven is a hamlet and census-designated place in Suffolk County, New York, United States. It has a total area of 5.9 square miles, 5.8 square miles is land and 0.15 square miles is water.

Yaphank neighborhood sits in the northern border, bordered as well by North Bellport in the west, with Bellport being in the southwest, Mastic Beach is located in the east, and Bellport Bay in the south. Within Brookhaven and across a portion of Shirley is occupied by the Wertheim National Wildlife Refuge.

Sunrise Highway defines the north border. Montauk Highway and the two main roads namely Beaver Dam Road and S Country Road link together as one and become a part of Montauk Highway from Yaphank heading towards the northeast passing the neighborhood of South Haven leading to Shirley.

Food establishments in Brookhaven include Brook House Pizza and Grill, Painters’, and Varney’s Restaurant. Educational buildings such as Bellport High School, Brookhaven Elementary School, Brookhaven Free Library and South Haven School (right outside the border to South Haven). An assisted-living facility is located at 111 Beaver Dam Rd called Brookhaven Town House-adults. Right across it is Bellhaven Center for Rehabilitation & Nursing Care. In the southwestern-most part of Brookhaven lies Bellport Bay Tidal Wetland Area.
