Bedford–Stuyvesant (/ˈbɛdfərdˈstaɪvəsənt/), colloquially known as Bed–Stuy, is a neighborhood in the northern section of the New York City borough of Brooklyn. Bedford–Stuyvesant is bordered by Flushing Avenue to the north (bordering Williamsburg), Classon Avenue to the west (bordering Clinton Hill), Broadway to the east (bordering Bushwick and East New York), and Atlantic Avenue to the south (bordering Crown Heights and Brownsville).

The main shopping street, Fulton Street runs east-west the length of the neighborhood and intersects high-traffic north-south streets including Bedford Avenue, Nostrand Avenue, and Stuyvesant Avenue. Bedford–Stuyvesant contains four smaller neighborhoods: Bedford, Stuyvesant Heights, Ocean Hill, and Weeksville (also part of Crown Heights). Part of Clinton Hill was once considered part of Bedford–Stuyvesant.

There are four subsections within the neighborhood:

Bedford is situated towards the western end of Bedford-Stuyvesant. The area extends from Monroe Street on the north to Macon Street and Verona Place on the south, and from just east of Bedford Avenue eastward to Tompkins Avenue. It is adjacent to Williamsburg, Crown Heights, and Clinton Hill;

Near the southern-central part of Bedford-Stuyvesant is the neighborhood of Stuyvesant Heights. Tompkins Avenue borders the Stuyvesant Heights Historic District to the west, Macon Street borders the district to the north, Malcolm X Boulevard borders the district to the east, and Fulton Street borders the district to the south;

On the eastern side of Ocean Hill is Ocean Hill;

And toward the southeast is the neighborhood of Weeksville.

Several public schools serve Bedford-Stuyvesant. The zoned high school for the neighborhood is Boys and Girls High School on Fulton Street. The Brooklyn Brownstone School, a public elementary school located in the MS 35 campus on MacDonough Street. At the eastern edge of the neighborhood is Paul Robeson High School for Business and Technology.

Herbert Von King Park is the lone park in the neighborhood and sits right in the center at Lafayette Avenue between Nostrand Avenue and Marcus Garvey Boulevard.

Bedford–Stuyvesant is served by the New York City Subway’s IND Fulton Street Line (A and ​C trains). Bedford–Stuyvesant is also served by the Nostrand Avenue station of the Long Island Rail Road.
