Oceanside Nassau

Oceanside is a hamlet located in the southern part of the town of Hempstead, Nassau County, New York, on Long Island The hamlet is bordered by Lakeview to the northwest, Baldwin to the northeast, Baldwin Harbor to the southeast, East Rockaway to the west, Island Park and Barnum Island to the south. The community has a total area of 5.4 square miles, of which 5.0 square miles is land and 0.4 square miles is water.

Long Beach Road, Oceanside Road, Lawson Boulevard and, Atlantic Avenue are some of the main roads in Oceanside. Taking N Longbeach Road from South Hempstead split into S Long Beach Road and Oceanside Road as it enters Oceanside. These two roads serve as the main thoroughfare in the hamlet traversing north-south. S Long Beach Road passes through the commercial area and continues southwest towards Island Park and Barnum Island, while Oceanside Road ends at Mott Street. Rockaway Avenue enters from the northwest and turns into Lawson Boulevard halfway going south. Atlantic Avenue Road turns into Davison Avenue, then Brower Avenue heading east and back to Atlantic Avenue as it exits the east border. Other roads such as Brower Avenue and Waukena Avenue, which were built as residential streets, also carry major traffic. Sunrise Highway is located along the Northern border of the town with Rockville Centre and Baldwin. Merrick Road briefly passes through near South Nassau Communities Hospital

Located at Weidner Avenue and Lawson Boulevard, the Oceanside station is on the Long Beach Branch of the Long Island Rail Road. The Long Beach line’s Oceanside stop is the third train station south of the city. Penn Station is approximately 40 minutes away from the Oceanside train station. The Rockville Centre Station or Baldwin Station on the Babylon Branch are popular commuter stations in Oceanside’s northern part.

Nassau InterCounty Express routes n4 and n15 pass through Oceanside. Until 2017, the n36 served Oceanside, and the n16 also served Oceanside until 2012.
